Opp, Alabama is located in Covington County on state highway 331, the most traveled route to the beaches on the Florida Gulf Coast. Chances are if you've ever been to the beach, you've been to Opp.
Opp has a lot to offer for residents and visitors alike. Below are just a few attractions available.

 

Frank Jackson State Park
The Frank Jackson State Park is located just north of town and offers fishing, camping, hiking, and water sports. This 2,050-acre park is proud to serve as your premier fishing destination with its 1,000-acre stream-fed lake. As the primary park attraction, Lake Jackson, in addition to providing outstanding fishing and swimming opportunities, also features shoreline picnic areas. Lakefront camping sites with cable TV hookups and a nice
modern bathhouse make it a great camping destination. There's a natural island, with a boardwalk and walking path, for the explorer in you.

 

Day Use Area - Hours of Operation are from 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Adults 12 and over: $1.00
Children 6 to 11 years of age: $.50
Senior Citizens 62 years of age and older: $.50
Picnic Pavilion Rental: $35.00/day

The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo

Once a year the population of Opp, Alabama increases dramatically when people from all over the south come to Opp for the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo. This past years' Rodeo drew an estimated 20,000 people to the festival.
The festival includes rattlesnake demonstrations, a songwriter competition, arts, crafts, and all kinds of food including fried rattlesnake. The festival also has big name musical acts on Friday and Saturday. The 2005 festival had Blake Shelton and Sugarland to the delight of the record crowd.
