Mayor H. D. Edgar

MayorMayor Edgar was elected mayor in September of 2004.He is a local businessman who had a vision for the City of Opp and wanted to utilize his energy and enthusiasm to bring new prosparity to his community. Mayor Edgar put a team together to focus on economic development and improve quality of life for Opp.
He is married to the former Martha Petty and has six children; Melanie Edgar, a paralegal in Montgomery, Alabama; Emily Edgar, Assistant Superintendent and Federal Programs Coordinator for the Opp City School
System; Mindell Glisson, Opp Business woman and owner of Off the Top salon; Macie Taylor, a teacher in the Opp City School System; Angus Edgar, with H.D. Edgar Trucking, and Garrett Smith, a student in the Opp City School system, and four grandchildren. The Edgars are members of Memorial United Methodist Church.

City Council
The Opp City Council consists of 5 members. The Council members are Bobby Ray Owens, District One, Jimmy Rogers, District Two, Mickey Crew, District Three, Davy Lindsey, District Four, and Jim Bradley, District Five.
